What we discovered, however, far exceeded our expectations and instantly became a highlight of our trip.

Parrots were everywhere, perched gracefully on benches and nestled among the trees directly behind the shopping area. We even had the unique opportunity to sit on a bench with these friendly parrots right beside us. One curious macaw playfully nibbled on my companion John’s finger – a gentle reminder of their natural curiosity and an experience we won’t soon forget!

The iced coffee at the Juan Valdez Cafe was incredibly refreshing and a much-needed treat. Cartagena’s climate is known for its heat and humidity, so we were more than ready for a cold beverage. We opted for the largest size available, though the tropical warmth meant it didn’t last long before melting! Nevertheless, it was a delicious respite from the warmth.
