The Pearl Bar & Grill

Adjacent to the iconic “Phoenix Rising” mural, The Pearl Bar & Grill embodies a polished casual vibe that immediately makes you feel welcome. It’s the kind of place where you can comfortably wear jeans and a stylish top, feeling both relaxed and put-together. The ambiance is inviting, perfect for a relaxed dinner after a day of exploration.

The menu at The Pearl is a testament to thoughtful culinary creation, offering a wide selection that caters to various dietary preferences, including robust vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. Deciding what to order was genuinely challenging, as every dish sounded more enticing than the last. Their cocktail menu is equally impressive, crafted by an owner with a deep understanding of mixology. Expect classic cocktails with an inventive twist, alongside house-crafted specialties. Don’t miss the intriguing Corpse Reviver No. 2 or the unique Bad Skydiver, a bourbon-based drink infused with cinnamon and fresh orange notes.

A standout dish is the Mediterranean Pasta, an epic combination of capers, sun-dried tomato tapenade, fresh tomatoes, and Kalamata olives, all tossed in a delightful wine butter sauce with feta and artichoke hearts. I personally enjoyed a delicious veggie burger, and our server was incredibly accommodating with modifications, emphasizing that guests should truly enjoy their meal. While we were too full for dessert, the options sounded absolutely divine, and we’ve already made a mental note to save room on our next visit. True to its name, The Early Bird certainly catches the worm, or rather, serves an absolutely fantastic breakfast! This adorable Ellensburg restaurant boasts a breakfast menu so enticing, making a choice proved delightfully difficult. We opted for three different items, ensuring we could share and savor the truly unique Churro Waffles—yes, Churro Waffles! And they were every bit as delicious as they sound, a sweet and crispy delight.

• Three Little Piggies Waffle: A savory masterpiece featuring two fried eggs, crispy bacon bits, sausage, grilled ham, white cheddar, and green onions, all drizzled with maple syrup.
• Churro Waffle: A dessert-for-breakfast dream with cinnamon sugar, sweet cream cheese, powdered sugar, and a generous dollop of whipped cream.
• Breakfast Grilled Cheese: A hearty sandwich on Vinman’s sourdough, packed with two scrambled eggs, sausage, cheddar-jack, and American cheese, served with your choice of jojos, fresh fruit, or a house salad.

You can’t miss the bright blue churros and tamale stand conveniently located across from Central Washington University. During our visit, the simplicity and value were outstanding, with everything priced at just $5. I wholeheartedly recommend ordering at least twice the amount of churros you initially think you’ll want – they are truly that good! Made fresh to order and served piping hot with a generous coating of cinnamon sugar, they are a pure delight.

For those who enjoy a bit of heat, the Barbacoa Taco is a must-try, but be warned – it packs a significant punch! My husband, a lover of spice, was surprised by the intense heat of the sauce. It’s definitely for those who appreciate a fiery flavor. Genesis Churros Y Tamales offers an authentic and delicious street food experience that’s perfect for a quick and satisfying bite.

From April through October 31, visitors can join guided 60-minute walking tours at 10 am and 2 pm. Farmers in Kittitas County produce premium Timothy Hay that is sought after internationally, even feeding world-famous Kentucky Derby horses. This boutique hotel masterfully blends the rich history of the original Elks building with modern comfort and luxury across its 59 thoughtfully designed guest rooms. Each room is a sanctuary, featuring local art, stylish barn doors, high-end pillowtop mattresses, and signature linens that practically guarantee a restful night’s sleep – so comfortable, in fact, that I wished I could take the mattress and linens home!

We enjoyed a fantastic king room on the third floor, complete with everything needed for a perfect couples’ getaway: a wonderfully comfortable bed, a flat-screen TV, complimentary Wi-Fi, a mini-refrigerator, a coffee maker with K-cups, an in-room safe, and ample space to relax. The hotel’s prime downtown location meant we could easily explore local shops, walk to fantastic restaurants, and immerse ourselves in the city’s charm without needing to drive. We would wholeheartedly return to Hotel Windrow for another romantic and comfortable escape, drawn by its unique character and impeccable service.
