The Amway Grand Plaza Hotel boasts an impressive collection of 681 guest rooms and suites, many of which offer breathtaking panoramic views of the tranquil Grand River. During a recent stay, we were fortunate enough to reside on the 20th floor in a coveted corner room, providing magnificent vistas of both the esteemed Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum and the fascinating Grand Rapids Public Museum. The sheer scope of the city unfolding beneath our windows was a constant source of wonder, enhancing every moment of our visit.
A Detailed Look at Our River View Room Experience
Our expansive Grand River view room, positioned high on the 20th floor, truly offered a splendid panorama over the western expanse of Grand Rapids. The room was thoughtfully appointed to ensure both comfort and convenience, featuring a plush king-sized bed that served as the centerpiece of relaxation. Adjacent to the bed, a well-designed writing desk seamlessly integrated with a dresser and a television stand, providing ample space for work or leisure.
Hidden within one of the dresser drawers was a compact safe, perfect for securing valuables. Another ingenious touch was the small refrigerator, cleverly concealed behind what appeared to be standard dresser drawers. This mini-fridge was ideal for keeping local Grand Rapids craft beers or other beverages perfectly chilled. A spacious closet housed a convenient coffee maker, ensuring fresh coffee was always within reach.
For moments of quiet contemplation, a comfortable side chair and a small side table were positioned perfectly by the window, inviting guests to relax and watch the city come to life. The en-suite bathroom was equally impressive, featuring a selection of luxurious G&H Nourish toiletries, exclusively from Amway. Upon our arrival, the room was stocked with high-quality shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and body wash. We were particularly impressed with the shampoo and conditioner, whose rich formula left our hair feeling exceptionally nourished—a true testament to their quality.
Beyond the practical amenities, the comfort of the king-sized bed was truly remarkable. After a full day of travel, the combination of exhaustion and such an incredibly comfortable mattress led to an astounding 12 hours of uninterrupted, blissful sleep on our first night. We awoke feeling completely refreshed, energized, and eager to explore all that Grand Rapids has to offer. Despite the hotel’s central urban location, our room remained exceptionally quiet throughout our stay. While occasional city sounds could be faintly heard, the overall tranquility was striking, even with the freeway visible from our window.
The dedicated desk area proved to be an excellent spot for catching up on work or writing. Although the mesmerizing views of the Grand River and the city occasionally provided a delightful distraction, it was hardly a complaint.
