When we heard that Brick & Spoon had been recognized as one of the ten best breakfast restaurants in the United States, we knew we had to experience it for ourselves – and it certainly did not disappoint! This award-winning Orange Beach establishment offers such an extensive and tempting breakfast menu that we could easily have dined here every day of our visit without repeating an order. Each plate that passed by our table added a new item to our must-try list, highlighting the creativity and quality of their offerings.
Brick & Spoon is particularly famous for its incredible Bloody Marys. During our visit, we noted that hundreds had already been enjoyed within the first few days of the month! While we opted for a fantastic mimosa to kick off our day before the Mardi Gras parade, many diners were relishing their custom-crafted Bloody Marys. We started our breakfast with the whimsically named “Bananas in Pajamas” – bananas wrapped in egg rolls, fried, and served with a luscious banana foster sauce – because how could we resist? We also indulged in fresh, hot beignets that were utterly beyond delicious; they alone are reason enough to return. For our main dishes, I enjoyed the flavorful breakfast tacos, while my husband savored the amazing Bayou Benedict. We left feeling incredibly full, happy, and convinced that Brick & Spoon is a definite must-visit breakfast spot in the Gulf Shores/Orange Beach area!

This fantastic restaurant invites you to indulge in authentic Italian meals, made even more special with their unique “penny cocktail” offer – your first cocktail (choose from a Cosmo on the Rocks, Gin Punch, or Villaggio Breeze) is just one penny with your meal! We thoroughly enjoyed starting with their fresh and flavorful fruit and cheese charcuterie platter, which could have easily been a meal in itself. The Margherita pizza was incredibly fresh and full of vibrant flavors, and generous enough that I took most of it back to our Eagle Cottage at Gulf State Park to savor later. My husband was particularly impressed with the fish of the day, a perfectly cooked Mahi Mahi, declaring it one of the best pieces of fish he had ever tasted. Villaggio Grille truly knows how to prepare seafood to perfection, making every bite a delight.

After an exhilarating Gulf Shores Dolphin Tour, we found ourselves eager for a great meal, and Cosmo’s Restaurant in Orange Beach, a recommendation from a local friend, proved to be an excellent choice. We quickly understood why it’s a favorite; the service was outstanding, and the restaurant exuded a laid-back, relaxed vibe that was perfectly suited after a day out on the water or lounging on the beach. The atmosphere was enhanced by the sight of locals enjoying dinner and socializing, adding to its authentic charm. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his Mahi Mahi sandwich, praising its flavor. I opted for a break from Southern comfort food and indulged in their Fettuccine Alfredo, which was a satisfying Italian comfort food choice. Cosmo’s offers a delightful dining experience with its welcoming ambiance and diverse menu.

My husband declared their Creole Shrimp and Grit Cakes as one of the best breakfasts he’s had anywhere in the world; the server even joked about drinking the creole sauce straight from the pan, and my husband enthusiastically agreed! Duck’s Diner is conveniently located with ample parking, making it an easy and essential stop during your visit to the Alabama Beaches. The friendly staff and fantastic food create a wonderful atmosphere that perfectly captures the charm of the Gulf Coast.

The owner’s super chill and friendly demeanor added to the welcoming atmosphere, and it was fascinating to hear about the passion and love poured into each of their restaurant concepts. Be sure to try their “porridge” – it’s an unexpected savory delight that will surprise and please your palate. Sassy Bass is also known for its breakfast buffet, which has earned a reputation as one of the top buffets in Alabama.
